Shes gone

Went out to check on the kids again, like I do every hour, to find Rizzo curled up. I reached in to try to wake her, but shes gone. She was due to have babies in 2 weeks.
I don't know what happened. She was alright an hour ago.

My sweet little girl is gone...

Ohhhh noooooo....!!! I am just heartsick for you! What on earth could have happened? I cannot imagine what you must be feeling right now with this awful tragedy. If you need to talk about it, I am here... you can always call me.

Thank you, Marcia. We had her to the vet just a couple weeks ago for an impacted bowel. We gave her all her medicine and soaked her every day, just like Dr. Landiss said to. I don't know why this happened.
This was to be her first (and only) litter of babies.
For a big boa constrictor, she was such a sweet and gentle girl.
I'm so heartbroken. I don't think I'll ever stop missing her.

My favorite room in the whole house is the snake room, and right now, I dread going out there. Her big enclosure, sitting there, empty.
I miss my girl.

I think I can understand what you migh be feeling when you go into the snake room... it's like a huge void, as if someone has ahold of you by the solar plexus. A grip in your gut, and an ache in your heart.

I know you miss your girl. I wish I could just put my arms around you and cry with you...

Yeah, you know, thats about it, isn't it. All those beautiful little faces looking at you when you walk in, and then that empty space where once two very special eyes peeked out at you. It just rips the breath right out of you, doesn't it.
Her water dish still sits in there. Her newspapers are still crumpled up, just the way she left it. (She would spend hours moving around fresh newspaper to get it just the way she wanted it)
I just don't have it in me to clean it up yet, and I won't let anyone else touch it.
She brought so much into my life. She was a tough cookie, but she maintained a gentle sweetness to her that made her very unique. She was very "talkative" as boas go, but she always saved the biggest and best conversations for me.
I'm going to miss those long talks.
