Well I picked up my first baby girl this after noon! Thank God for having a local breeder lol. A huge thanks to Jessica and Henry from leopardgeckosunlimited.com She was out and exploring her new tank with in 10 min of being put in there and I put 2 mealies in with her and one is already gone (no it didn't escape:main_laugh
She just started to shed but I still think she is completely awesome:main_yes:

LoL last night before I went to bed I was checking out their site and saw a cute Blizzard that I showed to hubby.... His response was 'Wait till the new year baby.' She has been in and out of her moist hide a few times. Every time I see her in there with her head stuck out and I walk by she jumps out and watches me.... lol not sure if thats good or if I'm scaring the heck out of her lol:main_huh:
Quick question too.... I've got the UTH set to 89-92*F but the moss in her hide seems to be cool, is that normal? And yes it's set right above the heat tape.

Yep, that wet moss will always feel cooler than your UTH setting.
It's not too far off if you have it over the heat source, which is what you want to do to provide a mini "sauna"!!
I have a laser thermometer (nice little toys these are BTW!!) and check the moist hide temps sometimes. It's always about 3F cooler.

Aww she looks so happy! Thank You for giving her a great home! She's a really sweet gecko! She always comes out wanting food. She eats like a pig & isn't shy about it. Good Luck w/ the roaches, after she eats a couple more times I'd go ahead and try them. If she wont eat them at 1st give her the mealies and try again a couple days later. Let me know how it goes. Your temps are O.K. nothing to worry about. Call or email me anytime. It was a pleasure meeting you.

Well since she shed last night here are some better pictures. It's amazing the difference a day can make in their colors. I'm going to guess that she has settled in just fine as she ate 8 meal worms and 3 small/medium roaches (she took them just fine Jessica:main_thumbsup. I'm so tickled she loved the roaches!! OH YAH! and her name, we are calling her Beau short for Beautiful.
OK so pictures:
1st-My daughter put her hand in the tank to get her used to us for the first time tonight and with in seconds she was crawling on her.
2nd & 3rd-Here she is trying to climb up her arm lol.
4th-Just hanging out in the cup she came in.
5th-A picture of her eye. I think they look cool.

She looks good! That's the best way to start getting her used to you. She seems to like the heat coming off of your daughter in that 1st pic. That's great that she's already eating the roaches for you! She's a good gecko! Since she's already eating I don't think it will hurt to go ahead and start handling her very briefly & carefully sitting down and stay low to the ground 1st til you get used to handling her- sometimes they want to leap. She actually seems to want it crawling up your arm. I'll Talk to you tom.
