Shipping UPS??

I didn't know where else to put this.

I have decided to use UPS to ship animal when needed. Main reason, is there are UPS places two blocks from me and the closest Staffed Fedex is 45 minutes away on a good day.

For anyone that ships UPS

Do I need to get certified like I do through FED EX?

Will they except the Boxes that Superior enterprise sells for shipping live animals?

Is there anything I will need to do besides setting up an account?

Thanks, I thought I would see if I could get some answers here before calling UPS.

Do I need to get certified like I do through FED EX? not unless they have changed policy, No

Will they except the Boxes that Superior enterprise sells for shipping live animals? Yes

Is there anything I will need to do besides setting up an account? nothing else as far as i can remember. call your local UPS office and find out what if anything else, some like to inspect the insides of the packages the first couple of times to make sure you are using correct packing and stuff but thats it if anything as far as i can remember.

UPS is all that we used to ship. i had very good success with them, never a single problem, wait one problem shipping to any army base once but they finally got the gecko alive and in good shape to the place it was supposed to go and also refunded me.

Thank you:)

I just called the UPS place by my house to ask if they would except live geckos for shipment. I talked to the manager, and he said no porblems what so ever, as long as I follow the package requirements and label the box properly.

So hopefully they stick to their word and I don't have any troubles.

no all should be fine

ya just mark it "live harmless gecko: Eublepharis macularius

you can out other little things on there like keep in truck or between X temps, but the requirement is live harmless geckos and they scientific name. if you go in there and they say no they don't. ask them to look it up in the book. it is there.

People tend to change their minds a lot, FYI. The only thing they can throw at you is where the terms say it has to be dropped at a UPS Customer Center. If you ask someone again you might get a different view and they tell you to go to the Customer Center. It stinks it's so far away.

Thanks

It will be a little while before I ship, but I want to get everything squared away and make sure I am not going uh oh.. I forgot to do this etc...

There are several UPS locations around here, that all have different services. So hopefully everything works out.

that is something i never had a problem with. now some customers asked me to have it left at the office. thing is they guarantee the delivery time but not live arrival of the animal and the only company that guarantees live arrival is delta (if they still do)

I used to ship out all kinds of reptiles (not just leos) a good 7 years ago via UPS overnight to places all over the U.S. I would use insulated boxes labeled "Live animals" and I never had one problem with shipping my animals , nor me receiving my stock. Unless things have changed since then I would have no doubts about their services with your geckos the way robin has told you. I used to package them up, take them down to the UPS store, and away they went...got confirmation that everyone was ok the next morning via emails.

request a letter of approval...

When I started shipping with UPS I had to write them a letter describing my packaging methods, etc. I later received an approval letter from a supervisor at UPS allowing me to ship geckos, bearded dragons, etc. I keep this letter with me when dropping off packages at UPS just incase a new employee there says you can't ship reptiles.

The funny thing is, there is a sign at the UPS customer service center that has "live animals" in their list of items not to be shipped.

So, getting a letter of approval is a good thing for sure!
