I always feed my leo crickets in the evening, and s/he does fine. I'm wondering if i should keep mealworms in the cage at all times, because thats what some books say.:main_huh:

Not 24/7 because being able to constantly see food decreases their feeding response. If you would like to keep mealworms in a dish in the cage, it's good to just leave it in for half of the day for this exact reason. So you could either put the dish in at night, and remove it in the morning, or vice-versa :)

I put a bowl in at night after their normal feeding & then take them out the next morning/early afternoon.

I think well gutloaded crickets are meant to be more nutritious than mealworms. So it would be good to keep offering crickets.

I don't keep mealworms with them 24/7, I feed my adults once every 3 days. For the mealworm eaters, I usually leave a dish (12-15 mealies only) in there overnight; no matter how much they ate, I'll take away the dish in the next morning. Then they need to wait for their next feeding day to see food again. :)

Hate to disagree......but

Well I do it another way....and I certainly hate to disagree with Jess since she gets the growth weight per month that she gets....... but I also think she has a little help from her male friend's genes. (male friend meaning her gecko male friend) humor Jess .......so, my way is the same way I feed my Fat Ass cats. Food down all the time. Now the only problem I see about this, it might take away from some of the "human" enjoyment part of watching the geckos eat.
A bowl of meal or wax worms with a carrot piece in their home all the time. I still tempt feed them by dropping things in front of them too.
My thoughts are when they want calcium, its there. When they want water, its there. When they wanna eat.......let them eat. But thats, ...... "I Did It Myyyyyyy Way,".. (FRANK.S)......T.C. / HJ

Well I keep my leo's stomachs full by leavin' the meal worm dish in 24/7. They eat when ever they want. Don't worry I dust their mealies every Tues. and Thurs. :)

I also leave them in 24/7. I have to disagree with Jess, although it may not be wrong. In my opinion, geckos dont eat any more or any less if the bowl is in their 24/7. My geckos seem to eat in the early early morning, or at night. So they eat 2x per day and usually eat a steady amount. I just dont see the need to take the bowl in and out of the tubs. Its easier, once the bowl is empty, to just refill it.
