Should I take her to the vet?

I have a 5 1/2 year old female leopard gecko, and other than some trouble with her liver last year, she's been healthy and happy for as long as i've had her.

When I took her to the vet to get meds for her liver, the vet said that leos usually get anual checkups.
However, as a college student, I'm on a tight budget and paying the $60-70 fee for a regular checkup would put a dent in my monthly funds.

If she's eating, shedding and pooping normally (and happy with her cage and food), is it necessary to take her to the vet anyway? I love my girl but at the moment I cant afford to pay that much just to have the vet say she's fine.

I see no reason to take her to the vet if she's fine. It's stressful to move them around anyway.

If a checkup costs $60, put away $5 a month. That's just over $0.16 per day.

Do many Vets really know about Geckos? I doubt they get shots do they? Just curious.

You should find an exotic animal vet to be sure. There has been cases when a regular vet inexperienced with reptiles administers a shot and it kills the gecko. So if you need one, call around and ask for recommendations
