Show $ vs. Online $

I was wondering if the prices found on websites are comparable to the same gecko at a show? If I spend $50 to get to the show and shipping is $45, is it better to buy online or will the gecko be any cheaper at the show?

Well if the show you are going to is local, I say get the gecko there. You wont have to pay shipping plus you can handle the gecko to see if it is one you want. I have baught a fat tail from a show and the prices aren't to far off. For leos it seems like the price might be a bit higher online than at a show but dony quote me on that

Online is a good option if shows aren't available, or you're looking for a specific thing you haven't found at shows. We have a good number of shows in our area so I get them there. ReptilesByRekowski does all the shows we do and I've gotten several quality leos and good deals from him (thanks Mike!).

Shows tend to be a bit cheaper, but it all depends on how motivated the seller is. Sellers who travel a long distance often drop their prices like crazy toward the end of a show to avoid having to take stuff back home.

Even though you can see a lot of geckos online, you can see them in "person" (or is that "in gecko") at the show and you may see other things you want, like supplies, at a good price. I think it's worth the trip.

well shows are more exciting imho because you get a chance to actually meet the person responsible for breeding your new animal. i haven't been into leos for very long, but have met some great people and hopefully made some great friends as well. pictures never seem to do some of these amazing leos any justice either and seeing some of the morphs up close and personal is always a plus. the only downside is that i always end up buying more than i ever intended. we met robin, kelli, and bryan for the first time at the OKC show, and planned on getting a couple from bryan. we ended up going to the show that morning, and then going back and came out with 13 leos, some hides, some chlorhexadine, and a new hovabator. i always make my way around the entire floor of a show at least 2 times, sometimes 3, but i always end up spending most of my time at the leos, lol

It really is a lot of fun to talk with other breeders in person :) I have to really try hard to stick with my projects and be careful not to venture into new ones without being certain it can grow. So I've been wanting a BB... ended up with a Diablo so white she looks pink. Of course now I'll be looking for a boyfriend for her this fall. Might as well keep an eye out for a Mack Raptor too :) I don't think I'm patient enough to wait two years to be able to breed one :(. Love the juvies tho :)

I'd better start saving up for Daytona!

At a show you are also able to talk to the breeder in person and often you can end up getting an animal cheaper then the asking price. I seem to be a "hands on" type of consumer....I like to be able to hold the animal that I am interested in.
