Sick baby?

I was cleaning the gecko racks last night, when I suddenly discovered this on this year oldest baby, he's about 5 weeks old;

He walks really wobbly, and his tail tip has gone hard and black, like if it was rotten or something. O_O The heating is fine, there's no way he could have gotten burnt.

I have no clue what have happened, all my babies get have vitamin and calcium dishes, I feed them every day. Every baby is kept in their own tub.

I was thinking that this might be MBD, but I have no experience with that disease at all, so I don't know what the early signs really are.

This baby hasn't shown too much interest in food the last week, I tried to forcefeed him some mealworms tonight, but he just spat them out. So tomorrow I'm gonna make a nice mixture of mealworm goo and vitamins and calcium, hoping he will look better once he get some food in his belly again.

Anyone got any ideas?

The little one probably had a bad shed... which can be something as simple as too much heat and/or not enough humidity, or it can be a result of some other health or metabolic issue. All you can do is assure the hottest place in it's environment is not over 95-96 degrees, it has plenty of water and calcium available, and if all else fails you can try my slurry (which is a sticky at the top of this forum). FOrce-feeding will only add to the stress. Try simply tickling the side of the baby's mouth wiht the butt-end of a small mealworm and allow it to try and bite it on it's own.

Good luck...

Thanks for your advice! The warm side is no hotter than 86 degrees, and I always make sure the humidity is high whenever they are going into shed.

I did try to tickle the sides of his mouth, but he just pushed the mealworm right out again, and refused to eat it. I've now made a little mixture of vitamins, mealworms and water so that he at least gets some food in. If he doesn't seem better the next days, I will definitely try your slurry!

You're warm side should be hotter than that. Try bumping the temps up to around 90-92.
