Sick Gecko, need advice!

Earlier today I went to my friends house to pick up his leopard gecko. He was giving it to me cause he didn't want to take care of it and wasn't taking good care of it for the past couple anyways. I was happy to add another Gecko to my lizard collection, but when i got to his house I noticed the Gecko looked extremely skinny and had very little fat in its tail. But to make matters worst one eye looks extremely crusty and the other looks like it is glued shut.
I took him home with me anyways cause i felt really bad and now I am determined to bring him back to heath. Today i fed him some crickets with calcium powder on them. He didn't eat them after a couple hours, but it looked like he really was trying to go after them. I have a feeling that since his eyes are so crusty he can't see very well or at all. To get him to feed i had to kill the crickets and put them right in front of him kinda pushing the crickets into his face. He found his way to the water dish and drank some water so that makes me feel better. Not sure what to do with his eyes please help!!!!

I have him on reptile carpet, he has a dry and wet hide and there is a heat pad under the wet hide. Im not sure if his eyes are gonna get better on there own now that he has a better home with food and water. Or if im gonna have to take action and do something about his crusty eyes.

Thanks in advance, Cody.

Wash his eyes gently with a q-tip and warm water. Leopard geckos can get infections in the eye due to stuck shed or other little particle getting in there. Sometimes the infection spreads and can become systemic so if there's a way you can get him to a vet it would be good.

I gonna go try the q-tips and warm water thing right now. I don't want to sound like a bad person, but a vet visit would be about a hour drive and will probably be more then the gecko is worth. I really hope no one criticizes me because of that.

Taking this animal to the vet is your best bet. Also to add to Aliza's comment, Make sure you quarantine this animal. Keep it away from any and all animals in your collection, in another room if possible. This will help prevent any of you healthy animals form potentially picking up any illness or virus from this gecko.
