Other things about this gecko:
The thrid pic is a pic of the gecko's poo. There was only urates. Most of the time it is like this. Sometime there is some black stuff in the poo. Very rarely, Coco poo turns out like a normal gecko's poo.
Since Shi Wei has gotten Coco, he has been like this. He thought he could nurse him back to health. When he saw him in the shop, Shi Wei thought Coco was just thin and not sick.
Normally, Shi Wei will give Coco 2 medium sized mealworms that has just shed. The poo in the third pic was taken after Coco ate one big shedded mealie and pooped that. If Shi Wei gives Coco more than 2 mealies, undigested worm parts come out in the poo.
So far, Shi Wei has given Coco 2 - 3 drops of olive oil three times as he thought it could be impaction at one point in time. Shi Wei has also given Coco 2 or 3 warm soaks too.
Shi Wei mixes vitamins with water and gives it too Coco once or twice a week. Shi Wei doesn't dust Coco's food with calcium as Coco will not eat mealies dusted in calcium so Shi Wei also mixes the calcium with water and gives it to Coco once a week.
In Coco's cage, there is a humid hide made out of a clear plastic container, a food bowl and a water bowl. Shi Wei uses newspaper as substrate. Shi Wei also wants to know if this could be caused by Coco licking the newspaper too much.
Shi Wei doesn't want to take Coco to a vet here in Malaysia as there are no good vets here. He is afraid that the vet might do something wrong to Coco. I had my own experience with a vet here in Malaysia when he recommended a UVB bulb to my gecko.
If you read through that thread I believe the guy went through everything, including a vet visit to find what was wrong with the gecko. Without a fecal exam to determine the poor thing is not overrun with with parasites, I really wouldn't know what else to do other than try to feed it as much as it will take. There IS a slurry recipe on here, but it is not intended to cure animals that have gotten THIS sick, but more along the lines of nourishing them while being treated, or enough for them to produce a stool sample for the vet.
She mixes the powder with the water? That does not sound right. I don't think I would be doing that, as leos need clean, clear drinking water.
As far as feeding her. What size mealworms are being fed. You do not have to wait until the mealworms have shed until you feed them, they are fine at all times (unless they have pupated and are turning into a beetle).
Another food item (if available anywhere there) that can help with weight gain are wax worms. They are very high in fat.
What is the heat source for the gecko?
In all honesty, a vet visit is necessary. Or even to bring in a stool sample to be tested for parasites. You know even if the vet tells you to us UVB that they are incorrect, but without a fecal exam to be sure parasites are not the problem, I dont know that she will ever get well.
Sorry to here that but I believe Coco was too far gone to be saved by the time the post was made. It's probably better this way, he won't have to suffer anymore.
