Poor little guy, but so glad that you are taking good care of him!!! He is definitely lucky to have you! Tell your brother not to get anymore animals! lol

Oh gosh, just read the other 2 pages I accidentally skipped...so sorry to hear about how he is doing. Hopefully you can work something out but maybe its for the best to let him go. He will be with all the other beautiful Leo's eating as many crickets as they can. Keep us posted!

So sorry to hear he has relapsed, unfortunately i think at this point your probably right. I sounds like the kindest thing would be to let him go :(.
See what the vet has to say tomorrow, fingers crossed.
What ever happens just remember that you did your best for the little guy.

This thread broke my heart. Sorry to hear about your troubles with your gecko and dog. I can't imagine what that must be like, trying so desperately to hold onto something that means so much to you and having such a hard time with it. I really hope everything turns around for the two of you. I've always had a soft spot for disabled animals.

I'm digging up this thread to let anyone who followed Meathead's story know what happened to him between my last post on this thread, and this one. well meathead did manage to pull through, and he will be going for a follow up appointment at the vets very soon1 he is now off of the slurry, and is willingly eating mealworms as long as I put them in his mouth for him. he is very slowly gaining his weight back, and his life has just turned around! he has even improved so much that he gets to be in the rack system with my other babies, whilst before, I was afraid that he was to sick to be near any other geckos! I will keep updating his progress periodically for you guys, but for now, here is are a few pictures of him! enjoy!:main_thumbsup:

him in his hide w/o a lid at that moment

and him munching on a vitamin dusted mealie! please excuse his nasty eyes! the skin hardend into a casing on his eyeballs, and we are saving to get his eyeballs removed, but for the moment the vet said that it isn't harming him.

Well, we just got back from the vet with Meat heads follow up appointment.... and lets just say that there were tears of joy involved! the vet managed to remove the stuck skin, and his eye was still viable underneath! (still blind though!) she also managed to remove this disgusting buildup from his hemipenal pouch! he is really stressed out now though, but here are some pics!

the orange bottle is his antibiotics (Tribrissin), and the little bottle is his eye drops that he gets twice a day now (Ofloxacin)

this is his hemipenal pouch after she removed the infected mass and cleaned it.

and this disturbingly gross thing is the mass they removed!

it looks painful! and finally, the big moment! his eyeball! it is black with a gold pupil, and this is the first time I have seen his eyes in two years!

but they still look the same and everything! I am sooo excited right now about this! and he is 50.11 grams and gaining! he will be on his medications for two weeks, and he is going to be getting a warm soak, twice a day on vets orders. then he gets a follow up appointment, and we will go from there. thank you guys for following Meat heads story, and I will continue updating, and answering any questions. wish him luck! :D

Oh, and with the exam, cleaning of his eyes, removal and disinfection of part of his hemipenal pouch, and medications, it cost 85 dollars. Which happened to be all of my savings as I don't receive allowance, and I am not old enough to get a job where I live. Thank you nice vet lady!

definitely a bargain! I was worried that the exam alone would break budget, but she cut a deal with me because she liked his personality, and wanted him to be healthier! his eyes still have a little film of goop, but with the eye drops, soaking, and gentle rubbing with a q-tip, the vet said that is should come off soon. The anti-biotic did seem to upset his belly (along with a ton of stress) and he threw up last nights dinner.... sooo, we're going to be taking it super easy on feeding until hes back to his fat little self! thank you guys for your support!:D

yes antibiotics will do that but at least it wont be for long. one of mine was an antibiotics for a while and she went off her food completely for a while but soon gained it back. fingers crossed he recovers soon. :)

he is a strong little guy, and he definitely has the will to live! (or at least to try and rip me apart when I give him eye drops!) now my main concern would be whether or not his tail will grow back or not! it hasn't changed since I have owned him!

I wonder what caused the eye to have that odd gold stripe for a pupil... From a biology standpoint, that is. It's the strangest thing I've ever seen.
