Sight by movement?

Is there any possibility that leos use movement to see their prey? Ive noticed that mine can be standing right in front os a cricket but dont seem to notice it until it moves and once they have seen it,if it sits still, they seem to lose sight of it.Or maybe they just lose interest?

Movement from insect prey triggers their instinct to pounce on it and eat it... If it is not moving it is not triggering the feed response... Do they know its there if it is not moving??? sure they do... Geckos with healthy sight will stay focused on a non-moving prey item and wait for it to move again to go after it...

Geckos sight is not like a motion detecting camera... They can see non-moving object... They are adept at navigating their environment...
Geckos are not equiped with a forked tongue that catches scent paricles and brings them to the jacobson organ... They do not have heat pits or heat reactive cells on their labial scales... They rely 100% on their better than good eyesight to hunt and catch their food...

I think so. I think that's why they won't eat a dead mealworm - it's not moving, so something in the leo's brain lets it know that it's not desirable as a food item. I think they can see things that are stationary, but don't consider it a food item, or otherwise important other than as something to sit on. If they couldn't see stationary things they'd be very confused animals... :D

Presley only goes for movement. It's funny to watch their head whip around when they finally see it move haha

Sometimes I tweezer feed roaches to my geckos; they can recognise what's in the tweezer no problem. Some of my VERY picky eaters that prefer freshly molted white roach will turn their nose up if I'm offering a normal roach with skin...
