Silk worms...

I bought silkworms for my chameleon and the geckos LOVE them! Just wanted to know if any one else uses silkies as a feeder !

I use the ones in the can. Mine love 'em. The trick is making them think they're alive though. I've never fed live ones to them though.

Mine only eat moving stuff. How do u trick them? the vibrating dish??

All of our leos love silkies. Our hatchlings will eat 8-10 at a time. I buy ours from www.mulberryfarms.com as eggs. We also get the silkworm chow. They are a great place to order from but their shipping isn't always right and requires a phone call to correct. Other than that they are very good to work with.

We have tried to get the silkies to reproduce but have been unsuccessful in only three attempts. All three times the worms died off at about the same size. The are very sensative and once a couple of worms in the colony start dieing, they all go in a couple of days. I think it is just having the proper enviroment and we are experimenting until we get it right.

I throw it down on the ground hard enough that it bounces. It looks alive when you do that. I don't bother doing that with one of mine as she's learned the feeding tongs mean food and will attack anything in the tongs.
