Well as the title states i'm trying to figure out if one of my eggs was a slug or not. It's very very soft but it was just laid about 30-40 min prior to me finding it. I still put it in the incubator but i'm going to check on it when i get off of work to see if it's still as soft.

Just wanted to get some opinions or some experienced people to chime in and share that wealth of knowledge.

As well as this is the 4th clutch from a first time breeder would this indicate that she is possibly tapering off her laying? Male was introduced only once.

Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan, I have had soft eggs harden up and hatch. I usually leave them until they mold.

About the introduction of the male to female.... I leave the female in with the male unless they don't get along or one of them start to get skinny. If I have to remove the female I will reintroduce her after two clutches.

Ryan I feel from first year breeders I'v had 4 clutches if pretty good. That is if they hatched for you......Some people do try to put the pair back together but I feel the female is telling us something when things like that happen. In this case I think she knew they were not developing. So she wasn't concerned and wanted to relieve herself from them.
I just had a first year girl do the same thing after 2 clutches. Laid two soft ones right in the open near her potty area.( discarded)....
.Just try to get some weight babk on her and see that she is getting calcium.
Take care. HJ

Thanks Thad and HJ.

HJ i'm totally in the same zone as you as far as the females knowing when their time is done. I figure i would leave the lay box in with her just incase and concentrate on putting some weight back on her. I didn't think that 4 clutches out of a first time breeder is a bad thing at all.
