smaller tank?

i was thinking of putting Froto in a smaller tank, he only uses half of his 20 gallon, and rarely (if ever) goes beyond his half log hide and he has a whole other section of cool side to get in and never does. so i was thinking of getting a 10 gal glass aquarium and move him to that. and possibly get something to go in the 20 gallon that will use it more, i have two heating pads, and the thermostat i have can keep two cages at the same temp. would this be okay? if so, what could i get that would use the whole 20 gallon tank more often.

My one fatty used to be in a 20, but he's happy in a 10 now. He hangs out in his hot hide, occasionaly leaves to get water or chase crickets, and sometimes, if i'm really lucky, he's move over to the cooler side and sit on top of a log for 5 minutes. He even digs towards the heating pad. he likes it hot.

You can give me the 20 gallon and solve all of your problems.... haha

But anyway, the only problem is, you are going to need to occupy the 20 gallon with someone that requires the same heat as a fat tail. That limits your choices. So what about... 2 fat tails?

well, i'd LOVE to get two AFT's, however, i have a male. i could put a female in there, but im really not ready to handle all the stuff if they happen to breed, so thats out of the question. anyway, here is a pic of his tank, he only uses the half log hide over too his oarnge rock moist hide and nothing else is used.

Then I'm gonna stick to that "me taking it off your hands" idea.

Or go buy two females...

two females in one, and the male in a 10 gal would be good. i could probably do that, now i just gotta get the $ around

this could be good anyway, b/c when i am ready to make an attempt at breeding, all the geckos i will need will be there.

I find AFTs to be more... lazy? or is it laid back than leos. You could get a leo if you wanted.

im really not sure what i want yet, i am gonna go and get froto a smaller enclosure, and explore around and buy waht catches my eye the most. i'd REALLY like to get a tokay to put in froto's old 20 gallon, but they are really noisy and unfortuneately, i cant have that.

yes, my AFT is very lazy and very laid back, so i'd say they are a little of both lol.

Just don't buy on impulse right away. Do your research before you buy.

Since both cages will be heated the same stick with an AFT or try a leo.

IMO 10 gallons is too small, so I wouldn't change anything.

For 1 gecko?, I dont agree with that, a 10 gallon is plenty for one AFT, they are not very active.

I know that 10 gallons is the standard for 1 gecko. IMPO I feel that 10 gallons is too small. Not much room to explore (exercise). I agree that AFT's are more laid back then leo's. A 10 gallon just seems cramped and it doesn't create as good of a heat gradient as a 20.

Exactly my thinking. I do have a leo but I've been trying to find a 20 gallon to switch her to.
