Ok so , I have a normal high yellow male however seeing other people post pics of theres who look just like mine some have fewer spots ( I know less than 10 spots makes it a hypo) but theres are tangs, I have looked up pictures online of tangs and found ones that look just like my guy yet there are normals that look similar too. What is the difference between them how do you tell if yours is normal vs tang?:main_huh:

he is still kinda young under a year but every shed he has he is getting more and more orange on his tail does that mean anything? when i got him he had no orange at all.

hey, thats a question i was wondering too...my leo looks like urs, and everytime she sheds she gets more orange on her tail and her tail seems to get a little more purple tinted.

Even many wild caught leopard geckos have yellow/orange on the tail. I have a few E.m. afghanicus that have plenty of color on their tails, but this doesnt make them carrot tails. Many people lose sight of the fact that carrot tail is its own legitimate morph...

To be a tangerine it has to have at least some amount of orange on the body... the quality of color on tangerines can vary greatly.

ok so it needs to have orange ? there is a leo posted on her tonight it has fewer spots but more than 10 and its yellow, why would that be considered a tang? and hypo when it is more than 10 spots? Im just trying t ounderstand that im reading about diff morphs but that confuses me lol

ok i think i see why , the gecko i was looking at has a small amount of faint orange on his back , so tangs dont need to be solid orange even if it is more one color if it has that bit of orange it can be a tang? think im starting to understand that, when i first looked at the pic i didnt see any orange.

Tangs have to be orange... plenty of pet stores lie about what you are actually buying, usually because they dont know the difference themselves, so people come here realizing they dont have what they thought.

the 10 spot rule isnt something that can be followed 100%. It depends on if you are dealing with the dominant genetic hypo or line bred hypo. but that is a whole other thing unrelated to the orange color.
