I voted "yes" because I'm not opposed to it for practical reasons. As someone who does list geckos for sale on my website I like people to see what I've already produced. However, I don't like the idea of keeping "sold" geckos there for months or across seasons. I think it's a good thing to do for awhile but as new geckos are added (or at the end of the seawson) the ones sold should be deleted.

It bothers me when I see a picture of a gecko that I would be interested in, only to find out that it's sold. I like it when breeders have separate "sold" and "available" sections on their website. Don't know about others, but I DO look at both. But when I look at the sold section, I'm already in that frame of mind of knowing that whatever I'm looking at I can't buy.

One of my local breeders (and I frequent their site often) has sold geckos mixed with the available. It bothers me, but not as much as the fact that most of their sold ones have been sold for months...including 2 that I had picked up in January. The pictures are STILL on the website. "Oh, that's a pretty Mack Snow Enigma...wait a minute, that's mine!" lol The guy's extremely nice, so I try not to bother him with a measly complaint...but it still bothers me.

I like to see what a breeder has produced. I also admit that I don't update my site often. If you see something sold, you can email the breeder to see if they have more or will soon. I try to keep some of my nicest sold ones up for people to see.

I say yes too! I love to stare at pictures of pretty geckos and like to see the range of what other breeders are producing. Also, if I see one I like I may contact the breeder to see if they have any holdbacks they're thinking of letting go or if I can reserve one like it next season. Like others, its hard to keep up with websites somehow and when I'm away from home my cell phone and iPad don't let me move things around the way my computer does so things that are sold may stay put until I find the time to do another update.

I voted yes, as a breeder and as a buyer. I have both on my website, but listed separately. I agree with others...as a buyer I do not like to search thru a mixed "for sale" and "sold" page. However, I like to be able to show what has been produced; and as a buyer I like to see what I missed....

I like being able to see sold geckos, but I don't like it when they are mixed in with available geckos. It is nice being able to see what geckos the breeder has produce and sold.

Recently I had a situation where I sold a gecko as a proven breeder. It was listed on my site as such but after the sale I removed the posting. A few months later the buyer is in need of the information and upset that the gecko has been bred before. From now on I will just move the sold geckos to the bottom of the for sale page for record keeping.

I voted absolutely not!

I cannot stand it when I'm browsing websites looking to purchase a gecko, and I have so sift through all the sold animals. Sometimes only to realize that every single animal is sold but still there for reasons I cannot understand. Because as a buyer (and a breeder, but not necessarily of geckos) I find it unbelievably irritating to have waste my time like that. A buyer shouldn't have to send an email asking what you do or might have available that isn't on the site.

It is not that hard to move them to a separate section, even if it is below the animals you do have available. But they should absolutely be separated. I wouldn't mind scanning over other geckos sold/produced, but not while I'm trying to find one available to purchase.

I cannot update my site without having to pay. I decided to no longer pay and just leave it as is. It may turn some people away, but I think my rep speaks for itself. If someone wants to buy from me, they won't mind emailing to see what I have. I have no problem doing the same. Many larger breeders like jmg don't have the time to update more than 1-2 times a year. It's never bothered me and I just email Jeff when I need something to see what he has.

But understand that as a buyer, that's not my problem. Besides setting up a site where you can code in new animals yourself there are other ways around it. Why not put up a link to a FB page there instead, where you can update with photos daily if you want, and explain that you don't update the site? Or a blog, instead? Or put up a disclaimer that potential buyers should directly contact you with inquiries? Better than leaving the same animals that have been sold for whoever long.

If it works for some people then great, but it really irritates me personally. I find it a tremendous hassle to have to email the breeder, have them send me photos (they usually take a day or three to take new ones), and then potentially end up not liking the animals they have anyway. Repeat with 3-5 different breeders? Ugh, Forget it.

It is your problem because I would have to raise my prices. And not everyone uses Facebook. I've never had anyone complain to me about not updating my site. And if they did, I'd probably chose not to deal with them. I've been doing this for years and didn't even have a website in the beginning. Not everyone has a grand to spend to get one made or is tech savy enough to work with one. I am keeping mine for my tos and contact info. I use classifieds to sell and mention that all my terms are on my site. That's all it's being used for.

This isn't a job for most of us. We're hobby breeders and not businesses.

I always contact known breeders I like when I'm looking for a specific animal. We're a pretty tight community and will usually recommend another breeder if we don't have what people want. I purchase from breeders who haven't updated sites in years . To me, it's no big deal. I guess I understand since I have a family, etc and don't have the time or money to update all the time.

Incase anyone wants to know, I am sold out right now. ;)
