I hatched out what looks to be a raptor het with 2 solid black eyes. I was wondering if anyone has seen this before. It is not an eclipse. The gecko was fathered by a raptor and mothered by a raptor het. Let me know what!

How come it isn't an eclipse? Do you mean because the mother was an albino? If so, my guess it is probably a RAPTOR whose eyes look black (but are actually very dark red) because of low incubation temperatures.

If the mother was Het Raptor and she wasn't albino, then the offspring would be normal eclipse eyes, because the red eye trait in raptor is just the albino version of eclipse eyes. :) And you would need two albinos to get albino offspring, because albinism is a recessive trait, as is Raptor. :)

The gecko was fathered by a raptor and mothered by a raptor het.
You would have a 50% chance of producing RAPTORs with that pairing.

My guess also is that it is a RAPTOR with very dark red eyes that appear black.... especially if the baby was incubated for female.

Oops. I didn't see the het raptor part. :D

Guess I did see it....hmmm. If parents are raptor and het, then the babies can be raptor, geez...what was I thinking???????! lol

Yeah, I know when I look into the albinos eyes in darker light, they look black, but in a certain light, you can see the red in the pupils. :main_yes:

Thank you for all your repsonses! It turns out that the gecko is a raptor. It is a female so I'm guessing that the eyes are just a very dark red due to the lower incubation temperature. Thanks again everyone!
