Well, I had to perfect eggs laid a month or so ago they looked great until about 1-2 weeks ago, one of the eggs started to deflate and dent. I didnt understand why this had occured. Is it infertile? Now, the same egg is very inflated and im pretty sure its dead. The temp is a pretty constant 86 degrees and im suing vermiculite as incubation medium. The second egg, who has done great up until 3 days ago, started to deflate as well. it isnt very bad yet, but im afraid it will get worse. It also s tarted to get mold a bit so I used a slightly wet Q-tip and wiped it off. What should i do?

I had the same problem. How many days? and when is it expected? the medium is the same as always righ? I think its the baby moving and making it look like that because I noticed two eggs from the same clutch that did this towards the last week before hatching like it got very bad and i thought it died but then i checked it a bit later and it was fine so i think if everything is right its just the baby changing position or something? very strange but this happen with me too.

I have had eggs go 7-8 weeks then start deflating and when I opened them up there was nothing in there. I have also had a few eggs start to go bad after 6-7 weeks and when it was clear the egg was no good I opened it up and there was a dead baby. It could be either of these situations or something else with humidity.

Aliza, I quoted you in another post titled "new eggs. from yellow to orange?" because it was relevant there too. Thanks for your help!
