gorgeous john! i love the granites! is that a ghost or snow?

Thanks Robin!
Granites are one of my favorites as well.....

There are two Morph California Kings pictured.
The first is an Amel Banded Desert Phase and the second is a Ghost but not in the double homozygous sense.....These California "ghosts" lighten to gray and white with age...You can see her black lightening up some already........

There's another morph besides the ones I just mentioned in that series of pics....can you spot it?

hypomelanistic as in the reduction of melanin? great looking greeri!

Yep.....
The prefix Hypo means reduced

And the pigment melanin is the described mutated pigment.....

Hypo melanism....reduced black.......

What is Hypoerythrism? (Hypo-E)

Hint: Erythrin is Orange/Red pigment.........

Not quite lacking....Just reduced pigment.....
Hypo-E milksnakes are "pumpkin" in color.....
Hypo-E Agalma and Mex mex have pink where the red should be.........

Anerythristic is complete lacking of Orange/Red pigment........
Axanthic is no yellow....
Amelanistic is no black.......

A= total lacking of
Hypo= reduced
Hyper= exaggerated

Three pigments we kingsnake guys work with...

Melanin = black
Xanthin = Yellow
Erythrin = Orange/Red

With the three prefixes we can describe all single gene mutations.......It just gets tricky with the double homozogous animals...we use man made names like the Gecko folks do....Ghost, Pearl, Snow, Jelly, etc....................
