Someone Please Help!

OK, as some of you may know, I have been having extreme difficulty getting onto the chats on my laptop. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me fix whatever the problem is. I will copy and paste anything I can find that gives you information.

When I click on "Chat", a window pops up, Java loads, and then it shows:

Could not connect to www.geckoforums.net:6667.
Possible reasons include:
- The chat server system at www.geckoforums.net is temporarily unavailable.
- Your computer is behind a firewall or proxy server. Please ensure that your firewall permits outgoing TCP connections to www.geckoforums.net on port 6667.

I went into my firewall and did what I thought would allow the port by allowing Port Name: www.geckoforums.net and Port Number: 6667, but that did not change anything.

When I right click on the Java icon in my task tray and go to "Open Console" it shows me:

Both Internet Explorer and Java are the latest versions and work fine otherwise. If you need more information to help me out just let me know. I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

Do you have any addons that are running. I know you can access that info through IE, tools, internet Options, programs, manage addons. Sometimes there are addons that mess up the java. I would watch which ones you shut off as it may cause some other places you visit not work.

There are a lot of them... and while that window is open I can't type. A lot of them are just a lot of random numbers and letters. There's an AIM one, a Java one, a few Yahoos....

You're using Java 1.5, thats probably your issue considering 5.0 is out.

The top two (Windows). You can choose to install it online or you can download the offline installation.

That's crazy... I downloaded and installed java 5.0 two weeks ago....well, I'll try that out.

That isn't 1.5. I have the latest version. I'm guessing you are looking where it says Java: 1.5.0. That is 5.0. The only difference between what I had and what I just downloaded was the very recent update that did not do anything...

And you did reboot the computer after install right? I realize you may know you need to do that, however some people do not.

Yes, I rebooted. When that did not work, I uninstalled, reboot, installed, reboot again. Same outcome.

I restarted the chat program on the server. Let me know if it works now. If not, I could try is restarting the whole server, but I would have to do that late at night.

Ryan, still nothing. Its obviously something with my computer and not the server, so you don't need to go through that trouble. My desktop computer works fine with it. The problem is, my desktop is at my parent's house. I will make it at some point tomorrow, but after this week I gotta get back to figuring this out.
