I'm so confused I've asked this question several times and have gotten a few answers thank you to those who responded. But I'm still confused about belly temps. I've been to 4 different pet stores and can't get an answer from any of them. All they can tell me is air temps need to be 85. I even had one person tell me that you shouldn't use uth because it fries there insides(IDIOTS).

You will get different answers from different people because there are different ways to do this. The most important is "belly" or floor temps. As I've mentioned before, I haven't really heard anyone advocate anything lower than about 92 and some people like it as high as 97, so with a 92-97 range, you just have to pick something there.

People are also divided about air ("ambient") temperature and we've discussed it on the forums before. Some people feel it's important to maintain air temps of anywhere from 70-80 degrees. With my geckos, I figure that if they get cold in the winter, they can go into their hides over the heater and be warm. I don't worry about my air temps. That means in the summer, it can be as high as 89 since I don't have air conditioning and in the winter during the day it may be as low as 60. So far, the geckos are healthy.

Bottom line, trust what you get here above what the pet stores say, accept the fact that there is more than one way to do things, use the variety to get a range of possibilities (the way I did with belly temps above) and then choose something within the range and see how it works.

Enjoy.
