Ok so how do I not buy more leos?
LOL especially considering when i go to petco, they offer free first vet visit!
well, I got this guy today...for less than a vet exam would have cost. He/She is being quarintined seperatly from my other herps. Looks in decent health for sure..a little skinny but not to bad for the size/age. We will be going for our free exam next weekend. Here are some pics.

i would suggest stopping to shop at petco or petsmart. you can find geckos in excellent health (from the beginning, no skinny ones either) from breeders local and far away. sometimes they might be a bit more expensive but well worth it in the end

I know exactly how to stop. I guess you could call it the 3 step process.

Steps:
1) Have a bank account of less than $50.
2) Have an apartment you barely have enough room for just yourself.
3) Have a girlfriend/boyfriend/spouse that gets furious when you mention getting more.

I am a perfect example of how these three steps make sure you don't get more leos. I just wish I couldn't stop buying lol.

Robin, on the petco isssue. I do as well as anyone know about the bad pet chains, I was banned from my local petsmart for a few years until they got new managment..like, my life was physically threatened..and that turned into a big legal thing. But the petco near me is actually the best petstore in my area. And of the 3 leos ive purchased from them 2 have been clean and this one will be quarantined for a few months and checked really good, but from their history im willing to bet hes got a clean health bill to. Its not neccesarilly the chains, If you really wanna get technical..I will shop at these chains..but you will never ever ever EVER see me with any products from fluker farms. I have found them to be the root of many herp problems..and a big problem with "big chain petstore reptiles" If you buy a bearded from petsmart..it probably came from fluker and will have a very short lifespan. I have 2 beardeds i invested over 2 grand in to save that came from petsmart. Its not about the big chain stores, its the people who run them and their supplier...think about it. As far as my petco, I have done a little research on there source for leos, and have gotten to know the employee's that work there. So I made this purchase with all confidence I wasnt making a mistake. And by the way I do have quite a few other leos that came from Good breeders, 3 from these forums. Well the only way I am going to get another leo will eventually lead to me being in jail. Unless it is given to me, so I would say yes lol

Is has to be all 3 steps at once though, because I have had number 1, still found a way to purchase a few geckos, lol, and I live in a condo which is not much bigger than an apartment and I don't see an end to the madness, lol. But luckily I do have a wife which is supportive and even likes to help out in the room every once and a while. So in my book I think it takes all three at the same time to put an end to the insanity!!

ok just making for sure. so many of the petco's and petsmarts have such bad quality animals. i know of one major supplier (which i will not name) who is riddled with parasites and illness. allot of people think they are reputable because they have a large name but they have sickly animals. just so you know what you are doing. thats great. most people do not. kudos to you and good luck with that beautiful little patty
