As you leo folks know, this gecko shows that by combining different lines you can really create some wild stuff within the same morph.

HISS, Tornado, and Blood together works quite nicely. Of course they have to be the cream of the crop of each line to maximize the effect. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but some newbies here might benefit from this.

Now, how about we breed Baby Jason to Lucky the Bandit? Those are the two best geckos we produced this season, and those babies would be pretty wild eh?? I think Carol would kill me if I bred Lucky to a non Bandit, but maybe I could do it quick when she wasn't looking.

Nah, breed Baby Jason to the Super Giant Red Stripe(I thought it was a female... if not, yeah, umm) you showed me... You need to find a nice big Giant Bandit for Lucky. :main_thumbsup:

True Giant Bandits are like a needle in a haystack. While there have been some claims of Giant Bandits, I've yet to see one. The day will come, but for now I just don't believe they are in existence. While there are big Bandits, I don't call them Giants. Like Jeff from JMG says, some geckos are just big geckos, but not Giants.

As for Tangs, Jason is 130g and is not fat, nor does he have a fat tail. He's just huge, but not a true Giant. Some people call almost anything over 100g a Giant, but in reality they are not. True Giants have a unique body structure and head, and of course their genetics prove them out. Big geckos are just, big geckos.

With Jason being 130g and Angel being 106g, I'd love to say they are Giants and claim that their babies are Giants, but truthfully they are not. Hope this all makes sense. Those into Giants will know what I mean.

I'm glad you are keeping it real Ray, I've seen too many breeders that are selling "giant" geckos as hatchlings or juveniles, knowing very well that some geckos simply don't grow up to be a giant. Wish more people would make sure they are giants or super giants before selling them as so.

Oh and that baby Jason is hot, I want one :)

Just because people breed Giant to Giant they think all babies will be Giant, and they are not all going to be. Now, if they breed an SG to a G for instance, then they can say that all babies will be SG or G. But I too think that there are some out there that sell "Giants" as babies without knowing for sure that they are. Let the buyer beware. I don't think they are unscrupulous...they just may not know the genetics very well.

Also, I have seen true Giants that do not get big, but have Giant characteristics. They are Giants genetically, but for some reason they do not get really big, often due to picky eating habits when young and in their growth phase. Some geckos are very fastidious eaters and thus don't attain their full growth potential. Hope that makes sense.

Super Giant X Super Giant = 100% Super Giant
Super Giant X Giant = 50% Super Giant / 50% Giant
Super Giant X Normal = 100% Giant
Giant X Giant = 25% Super Giant, 50% Giant, 25% Normal
Giant X Normal = 50% Giant / 50% Normal

Thanks to Ron Tremper for the above chart.

Yeah the thing that go wrong sometimes is when breeders mistaken their gecko to be a "super giant", when in fact it's just a well fed giant. So they think they have a guaranteed giant offsprings from SG x G pairing. And as you can see from the genetic chart provided by Tremper, there's a big difference breeding SG x Giant vs Giant x Giant.

Ron told me once that it's better to be sure it's a super giant before selling them as such.

Ray, all I gots to say is this.......

If YOU don't want to create Giant Bandits, I know someone who will. ;)

I'll still take a normal size glow in the dark Son of Son of Jason, though.

Manfred Mann's gecko song......................
Something like "blinded by the light"....
