hey all, does the temperature probe and the probe from the thermostat go under the bedding or on top of it? i am using repti carpet...also i have an allife thermostat but i dont really like it... i just think the temps go up and down too much. one min it is at 91 and the next it is at 95 or 96.. is it because i put the probe under the repti carpet?..... i keep hearing about helix and herpstat.. are those good or better than my allife one? if i set th temp stay at 92 or 91 would the herpstat do that?... i only have 1 baby gecko now but i plan on getting more. so i might as well get a good thermostat from now.. can it control more than one tank at a time?

put it on top of the substrate and the helix and herpstat are WAY better thermostats if you want to spend 120 bucks on a helix or herpstat then go for it

The Herpstat is great. Also, the Johnson and Ranco. I have 4 tanks and use the Herpstat on 3 and a Johnson on one. I place the probe on top of the repti carpet right next to the warm hide and tape it down with electrical tape to keep it in place. Make sure your warm hide is on top of the UTH. Do you have pics of your new baby?

here you go.. these are pics of my new first baby gecko and my set up... and dont worry about the waxworms.. i could them out.. and put mealworms inside instead.... i am also going to show you pics of where i have the probe now just to be clear.. but i will put it on top of the repti carpet... also i have asked this before but does this gecko look too skinny for its age and size? or is that the way that they look.. and anyone can take a guess as to what morph it is?

I have the herpstat and love it. It's a proportional heater which means it will vary the power to your heat source instead of turning it on and off. this is especialy good if you are using a basking light because instead of the light going on and off, it dims instead.

the Herpstat ND has the night drop feature which will allow you to set the time of night you want the temp to drop and the temp you want it to drop to.

I have an UTH and a red basking bulb plugged into my Herpstat ND and it works great.
