Steve is about six months old. I've had him for three months, with no problems. He has been eating mealworms most days, with crickets three times a week.
Enter the mealworm shortage.
In desperation, I bought some superworms, not even knowing what the repulsive things were before I brought them home. The lady at the pet store recommended them when they were out of mealworms.
They're HUGE! I was picking out some of the smaller ones for Steve, when a great big one fell into his cage, and he gobbled it up. Figuring he could handle the big ones, that's pretty much what I fed him for the ten days or so that the pet store didn't have mealworms.
Now that mealworms are available again, he won't eat them. He actually will go as far as to nudge them with his mouth, but he just doesn't eat. He caught a cricket and spit it out yesterday, too.
As far as I can tell, he hasn't eaten for six days. He comes out of his hide every night about twenty minutes after I turn on the red light, gets a drink, and poops, but he won't eat. Do you think I "addicted" him to superworms? Since then, I have read that worms that large are not okay to feed a gecko, but since he's pooping okay, I'm assuming they didn't harm him.
His tail is still fat, but he can't go on like this without starting to lose weight. He ACTS perfectly fine, except for not eating. Suggestions . . . please?
