I have had a dissaponting season because my only female breeder has only thrown slugs. One of the eggs in clutch 1 looks good but candles infertile, the other one has a big purple bubblw ssticking out from it. Does anyone know what this is?

In clutch 2 one egg collapsed so I tossed it, the other one looked good but had a bad smell and it is daark grey and looks like it is filled with water, Anybody know what could have caused this?

Thanks,
Joey

Keep the one that candles infertile. You never know. I have no idea what the one with the bump is, unless it's a case where the shell is thin due to not enough calcium and the fluids inside the egg are making it bulge. If this is your female's first year breeding, she may take awhile to lay a fertile egg. The male may also not be a good match for the female. THere's someone else on the forum having trouble hatching live fat tails. I have a female who's a first time breeder. She came to me gravid by a male and laid 3 clutches of infertile eggs. Then I bred her to one of my males. Shehas laid another 3 clutches so far for a total of 6 eggs, only 3 of which are fertile (1 from the first of these clutches and both of the third clutch). Make sure your female is eating enough and is well supplemented with calcium, D3 and vitamins.
Good luck,

Thanks so much! The infertile egg is expected to hatch July 21 so I'll see what happens. I'm picking up 1.1 Leos at a show and will have 2 or 3 females going next year. maybe 4 if one of these eggs hatches. It's weird because the first egg in clutch #2 candled red, but I think I may have kept it to moist. Oh well, I learned from those mistakes and it's time to move on. Thanks again.
