Starting to question genetics...

Let me preface this by saying, I have tried Google to ease my concerns, and it hasn't really given me clarity thus far.

Here we have Reventon, who was sold to me last year by a VERY reputable source as a Patternless Tremper Albino...

Then, a few months ago we bought a few Super Snow girls as a package deal, and were offered a "Patternless female" as a sort of "bonus" gecko, because the person we were getting from was getting out of Leos and they were his last bunch. He stated that this female had come from a friend who had a colony, and he was told she was straight Patternless no hets, though her eyes tell me something different. What we DO know is that the only albino gene this person worked with was Tremper.

What I want to know is, based on general opinion, is it possible that THIS female is Tremper Patternless, and Rev *may* have been mis-labeled as a Tremper Patternless, and may only be Patternless or Patty het Tremper? I do know that sometimes Trempers can have silver eyes anyway, but I have always found his eyes a bit...well, normal. lol

I am totally undecided if we are going to pair these two up next year to test breed, or if we are going to sell one or both of them (may not be pursuing the Patternless projects we initially planned). Either way, it's important to be certain!

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, all Tremper, non-eclipse geckos have at least 2 red veins in their eyes (which seem to be olive green otherwise). My advice would be to plan a breeding project for next season to determine whether each of these geckos is Tremper, het tramper or not het tramper. Then you can sell them after next season and be confident about what they are (and get full value for them).

I'd agree with Aliza's suggestion to breed to a visual Tremper and see what you get. The eyes look pretty normal to me. Are you sure it wasn't sold as het Tremper? From what I've been reading the MP gene can affect the colors of eyes a bit. I don't think Id question the albino strain she has in her background before test breeding. If she was 100% sold as an albino I would contact the breeder and show him/her the pictures and ask. There's a chance they could have sent the wrong animal? Just grasping at straws but those would be the steps I would take.

Let us know what you find out!
