Staying on cool side during cold weather?

Archer is currently hiding under paper towels on the cool side where it reads 62F on the probe thermometer. I had the CHE on all night over the hot side (where he was when I woke up). He hasn't really eaten the past day or so as well but he actually gained a little weight. 37.3g on Oct 15 and 38.1g on the 17th. Should I be worried or put the CHE in a different spot? The hot side was 91.4F when I checked before he moved too.

Or is he going into brumation?

Do you also have an Under-tank Heater? And the cool side should be room temperature. The temp on the cool side should never drop below 70 degrees F.

Yeah, I have a UTH and it's hooked up to a HydroFarm thermostat. We use a space heater instead of heating the whole house but we don't use it a lot unless we really need to. It's mostly only on during the mornings while getting ready for work. That's why we have the ceramic heat emitter. So our room temperature does drop a bit below 70F. Should I put the CHE on the cool side at night/mornings?
Is he entering brumation or something? I've heard/read that leos will get darker if they're cold but his colors don't look dull or anything.

Im not a fan of CHE and have never used them before so I cant saywhat you should do with it, but as Russell said you need to find a way to keep that ambient temp on the cool side at 70 or higher. At that low temp Im sure thats why it is not eating. I would think the temp in your room would have to be in the 50's for he cool side to reach 62.

I figured the temp was the reason he lost his appetite but thought it was odd he went to the cool side at that temperature. I've read people saying their leos will go to the cool side when brumating so wondered if that could be part of it. He's up this evening and isn't too impressed by meal or superworms but ate a waxie.

I would be hesitent to feed him until your temp issue is worked out. Especially if he is spending alot of time in an area of the enclosure that gets that cold. When he warms up he probably gets hungry and eats, but if that temp continues to drop that low it is possible he could begin to have digestion issues.

He just pooped so he must've eaten something last night. The only difference in them now than when he arrived is they're a bit more curled like a C. Google didn't turn up anything.
I'll try putting the CHE over the cool side tonight so (maybe) he'll have more of a gradient.

Some of mine do spend the winter on the cool side sleeping, but it's a bit early yet for that. It's not unusual for many of my adult geckos to eat significantly less starting around now and that is, as usual, what's happening.

At 4 months they usually don't take the winter off. However, when they get to be about 30 grams or so (which can happen at 4 months) I find that their appetite goes down and they don't need to be fed every day.

Okay, thank you. He's a little over 30g now. I think he's bored of mealworms. The temps are straightened out and he keeps acting like he's going to eat then just licks it and walks away. We ordered some more food, though.

This is interesting to read. My girl has been under the wet paper towel for 4 days in a row. She's never done this before. She's obsessing in her humid hide. Strange.
