sticky discharge

i've been posting questions in the breeding section about my gravid gecko willie. i've been worried she is egg bound. its been almost 7 weeks since she was with the male. she has been eating well and going potty. she's even dug some in her moist hide.

but a few days ago when she came out of her moist hide, i noticed she has eco earth stuck to her rear. i gently wiped it off with a wet q tip. that same night she had utrates stuck half in half out of her vent. i gave her a soak, and pulled them out.

last night she went poop and peed, but had eco earth from the hide stuck to her rear again. when i pulled it off, there was this clear sticky discharge. i gave her another warm soak and wiped the area with a q tip.

today she still had some of the clear sticky discharge stuck to her vent. i'm calling in the morning to make her a vet appt for saturday. but i was wondering if anyone knew what might be causing this...i'm gonna stress until saturday :(

There is a possibility (and only a faint possibility, so please don't get worried) that the egg broke inside her and you're seeing yoke. I just lost a gecko to this condition. On the other hand, I saw some similar discharge in another tank and all the females in there are fine. If her behavior changes radically and she begins to seem lethargic, consider getting her to the vet sooner. Ont the other hand, I have a gecko who both last year and this year looked gravid for a long time (months) and took that long to lay..

thank you.

i had already googled the problem to see what it might be and read about ruptured eggs. so i thought i'd post here and get some thoughts and opinions. i'm really worried because i can't get her to a vet until saturday. i can't get off work tomorrow and its an 80 mile drive to the vet so that let's out going on my lunch break.

she has seemed to be sleeping day and night, but she's been doing that since she got really fat.

It does look like the stuff that my gecko deposited that I thought may have been yolk, so if you can get to the vet it would be a good idea,.

thanks again for you advice. we did take willie to the vet today. he did an x-ray and he was like..."she has two monster eggs in her!" he said we needed to get them out asap bc they are pushing everything around inside.

he gave her a shot of oxytocin (spelling?) and sent us home with more to give her orally tomorrow morning if she hasn't laid. she is at my boyfriend's house bc he lives 15 miles from the vet, versus the 80 mile drive from my house. i'm hoping she has laid her eggs...he is at work right now so it'll be another hour or so before i know anything.

please keep willie in your thoughts! if nothing by early next week, i guess they go in and remove them, which i've read only gives her a 50% chance of surviving.
