I made a thread about a month ago because my leo has been having some shedding problems. I took the advice I was given and managed to soak off and remove the shed he had stuck to his legs and feet.
Now Nico is shedding again and this time it is worse. It was pretty much stuck to his entire body. I don't understand why he is no longer making an effort to remove the shed from his body. He's never had major problems in the past. Nothing about his enclosure has changed. He has a humid hide made out of a margarine container with a damp sponge inside. He's had that set-up for years with no problems.
I took someone's advice and switched out the sponge for damp sphagnam moss. Now he won't even go inside his humid hide.
It's taken about a week, but I've managed to remove most of the stuck shed from his body through soaks twice a day, spraying him with the Zoo Med shedding aid, and picking off what loose shed I can.
I feel like I am really stressing him out and he has stopped eating again. The part that really worries me is that he has a buildup of shed on his tail, and I am afraid to mess around too much with his tail. The shed covers most of his tail and stops just below his vent. I think I can get under the skin just barely with my tweezers, but I am scared that he will drop his tail.
Any ideas why he seems to have given up removing his own shed? What else can I do? :main_huh:
