well its been over 6 weeks since willie was with the male, pungo. she still has a healthy appetite, she comes running when she sees the cricket house.

that's about the only time i see her out of her moist hide. she is in there day and night, and is sleeping A LOT.

she does come out to go potty, but yesterday she went inside her moist hide, which she's never done before. its been about 4 or so days since the last time i know she was digging.

i have been trying to leave her alone, but i do take her out to give her a moist soak every so many days. and i take her out to eat, because i don't want crickets getting in her moist hide.

we did make her a vet appointment for yesterday, but the weather was so nasty, we're gonna have to reschedule.

if she was egg bound would she still be eating and be able to go potty? we're getting close to 7 weeks here.

I just had a female that was with one of my males on feb 4th and just layed yester day. I have a nother female that was with a different male on jan 22 and still hasnt layed and i know they did the nasty more than once, but she is just starting to really show and dig a little. Had a nother one dig and not eat for about 2 weeks lookin like she was going to explode and was gettin ready for a vet trip and she laed. dont know if this helps but to me it seams they lay when they want to, then again ive never delt with eggbound anything before. hope this helps.

hey thanks. it does make me feel better to know that someone else's leo has went so long without laying.

i've been asking lots of different people. some say not to worry. others say anything other 31 days should be a cause for alarm. it makes things very confusing. i'm gonna see if i can get a good belly pic of her sometime today.

i really appreciate any input or opinions that anyone can offer.

I know that my first time breeder girls take a while to lay their clutches. Or, at the beginning of the season, it takes a bit longer sometimes. I'd take her to the vet just in case, but don't worry too much.

thank you. i know a vet visit is the only way to ease my mind..and to make sure everything is ok. its nearly 80 miles though--a lot of it through heavy traffic. i just hope she lays the eggs before we can reschedule bc i don't want the drive to cause her any stress.

It's hard to say but from the pic i looks like the eggs aren't fully developed yet in her belly. I say give her some time and let nature take its course. If you could get a better belly shot that would help with any confusion and allow for a more definitive answer though. Also her being with a male doesn't mean that the eggs started to develop at that time, she could have been receptive to the male and then stored the sperm for a later date, just a thought.

What is the temp in the moist hide?

I had a female that I was sure should have laid her eggs. I finally took a closer look and the heating pad had gone bad. Once I put a new one under her she laid within two days. It was 71 degrees in her moist hide when it was broken. The eggs would have likely died if she had laid them.

Sometimes geckos won't be ovulating but will be receptive to the male. She might breed but doesn't have any eggs to fertilize. I had a female who had been breed and took forever to lay eggs. I believe it took about 4 or 5 weeks! If she is eating and pooping then she is probably ok. In the pic it looks like the eggs have moved down and she might lay them soon. Sometimes geckos will get right in the moist hide and lay and sometime it will take a week. I had that dug for the last week and finally layed them today. Just relax and if she stops eating then that could be a sign she is ready to lay the eggs. If she doesn't eat for over a couple days then keep a eye on her.
