anybody have any suggestions i've tried crix, meal worms, waxworms. hand feeding, using tongs, and he still wont eat. he still seems scared of the crix, turns his nose up at the wax/meal worms. i've also tried tossing crix in his cage, a dish of meal and wax worms all with no luck. i believe the whole time i had it he has eaten 1 wax worm and two crix in about a week. :(

If you have only had him a week that is normal, he needs to settle into his new home and it could be winter slow down. Keep a good check on his weight and you may want to take a fecal to the vet, some vets will do fecals without an exam.

What are his hot and cold side temps?

It can take up to 2 weeks for a gecko to start eating. Give him some space, don't handle him, trying to force feed right now is a bad idea, you are just stressing him out.

Wait a couple of days, then throw 1 or 2 crickets in his tank, leave the room and go back in about hour or so to see if he has eaten.

If he hasn't eaten in 2 weeks, than I would have him checked out by a vet.

i was initially told it would take anywhere from 2 days to a week, nobody mentioned two, thats definately good to know. as for handleing, ive handled him three times, once for enclosure cleaning, once when he crawled right up on my hand on his own (when i was attempting to hand feed), and last to place him in his new enclosure. all for extremely short peroids.

i sure hope he eats soon, his tail is getting kind of skinny. i keep trying with no success.....i might need to take a stool sample to a vet. but i'll give it a day or two more...he still is alert and roaming around at night so thats a good sign

thank god!!!!!! i just went in to check on him, i looked in the mealie dish and all three waxworms and most of the mealies i had put in there are gone, i looked in his normal hide on the cool side of the tank and he wasnt in there, he was in the half log on the warm side with a mealie still hanging out of his mouth.....so he is finally starting to eat! i put a few more dusted wax/meal worms in there and i will leave him alone for a while again and see if he goes for them. its good to see he is finally eating...im glad

Rob, That is great news! I am so glad he is finally eating (I was starting to get a little worried...LOL)

Don't give him too many waxworms though, they aren't good for him, VERY high in Fat

i wont, i just put a little more in for now, the fat should do him some good being that its been so long since he ate. im getting more crix cuz i want to watch him hunt them down. when i get the crix, i noticed that they have "oarnge cubes" as a gutload for them, anybody have experiance with them? they seem like the easiest route.....what do you all think?

i also am having this problem. i have had mine about 3 days. i didnt realise it was normal for them to not eat when in a new home. i have been handling him a lot and using tongs. i will stop and leave him to it. He looks healthy though, he has a lovely fat tail and is only 5 months old.

carrots and orange cubes are not GUTLOAD, they are a moisture ONLY source.

Try a real gutload like progeckos.com, vionate, a full grain cereal. moisture keep sthe feeders alive, not well fed.
