just cleaned out my leos moist hide, this is where he also poops and stuck to the side was a really strange poop, it was more like a cacoon, the top was white creamy colour and then the rest was red/orange and brown an white, and on closer inspection i could make out a locust leg. the poop was quite big as well, twice the size of normal.

ive noticed he has been acting kinda wierd the past few days also, he seems to not move a lot an just stay in his warm hide, also yesterday i lifted the warm hide to check he was ok an he turned to lick his tail

he looks pailer then usual, but not pail enough for shed

could anybody please help

If you are really concerned that something might not be right with him and it does sounds that you are- then call a vet and bring a fecal sample into them to check to start with

Just a thought-it is getting close to a season change and all of my animals are acting a bit weird too

Good Luck with him

you said you found a hopper leg in the poop i ALWAYS remove the back legs of the hopper i feed to my gecko as they can cause internal damage in the stomach etc

maybe he just got scratched on the inside and does not feel like eating

try and offer him calcuim powder and multi vit off your finger if he is tame so he is still gettin that

watch out for the next poop its its still red contact a vet as it could be blood

i wish you the best of luck keep us updated

I'm no vet, but what you say sounds very possible.
The fact that it was larger than normal suggests that part of the hopper's body was too hard to digest, mixed with the sharp spikes on their legs.
I know if a human swallows something sharp, they can pass quite alot of blood and it can take weeks to heal.

P.S. sounds like a trip to the vet to me.

reptiles heal quite well inside same if we bite our tongue it heals faster than a skin wound

passing the food is a good sign he is still working

if any more blood is in the poop a vet will be needed yes

and please remove all grasshopper/locasut legs its a real danger

It's a relief to know they heal quick.
I know I would be freaked out if I saw that in one of my leos.
But (and no offense to the OP) I would never feed anything like that in the first place :main_no:

just watched him for a bit an offered him a mealworm but he wasnt intrested

he did have some water out of his water dish which is a good thing i guess

while watching him i noticed he looks a lot more skinny then he did
also i fed him waxworms for the !st time just before this happened< could this be one of the reason why hes like this?

in my thoughts
what you described could of possibly been an undigested waxworm it sounds like it. Just make sure the temps are above 88F on the hot side and no hotter than 95F and he should be fine...I think.

thinking back i do wake up late in the day sometimes so he can go half a day or so with out his heat lamp (i live in the uk so i need one to get temps up)

i'll just keep offering food everyday an hopefully he will eat again soon

i just brought a fresh box of locusts an waxworms as well :p

just a quick update....

poops back to normal but really small, like a rat dropping size, but it is very wet which is a good sign i guess, also im guessing its small due to the lack on food

i have tried feeding him but he just closes his eyes an turns his head :(

could he of been put off worm type feed? i havnt tried a locust yet as if he doesnt eat it, they are a pain to get back out :p
