Hi,
I was just holding my gecko (Male) like usual and he was lying down on my hand. And then for some reason he started to move his tail side to side really slowly and quite wide movements. He was still laying there just with his tail moving. So i put him back because i thought it was quite strange, and looked up to see what it was on the internet. :inquisitive: I found that it was like a sign of defense or aggression and sombody on the chat room said he may have been marking. So as usual he started coming up to the viv door and i let him walk on my hand and after a few minutes he did it again. He wasn't breathing really fast or anything just chillin' with his tail moving lol. It shouln't be because he's scared 'cos he still wants to go on my hand all the time. Any ideas?? :main_thumbsup:

Not sure why they do that when they're just randomly out. My Dante will do that sometimes. Sometimes I think it's just him claiming his turf, he loves my bed (where I normally let him wander around). But that's just my two cents lol

the only time my gfs gecko (tang)did that is when she got me one for christmas and we introduced her to the viv.... scary time cause she went to bite the new gecko (blizzard) after waving her tail but now her tang never does it to the new inductees.

My gecko shakes it's tale rapidly right before it eats something... but never while it is just sitting there.

I have this little plastic eagle thing that balances by its beak on a plastic vertical stick. Basically, it's a little display toy. I used to keep it right beside my tank and at one point I bumped into it by accident so it started to sway back and forth, balancing by its beak. My gecko spotted it and immediately rushed over to investigate, her head titled to the side slightly, with her tail up in the air and waving back and forth really widely. It was the most adorable thing I've ever seen. xD

Aw that is so cute.

Yeah, my younger leo sways her tail from side to side as well. She does it alot in fact. I believe its an aggressive or defensive stance like others have suggested.

Hunter you might want to be careful if you want to pair your gecko with another gecko. This could be a sign that its better for your gecko to live the swinging bachelor life!!! :main_thumbsup::main_laugh:
