Stuck Egg?

When Ozzy laid her eggs, they were on the Ziplock bottom rather than in the vermiculate, as she had dug it all into a pile. Never had that happen before - they've always laid ON the vermiculite and then threw it over the eggs as well...anyway, one of the eggs came out fine and is in its own little Ziplock - but the other one stuck to the bottom of the container that she laid it in. I tried pulling it up, but didn't want to tear the egg. I tried getting my fingers wet and flicking water where it's stuck - no dice. So I surrounded it with vermiculite, taped over the entry hole in the lid and poked smaller holes, and stuck it as-is in the incubator.

Question is - is this okay, or do I need to get it unstuck?

This has happened to me a few times. Putting the nest box in the inc okay but you want to make sure the inc medium has the right ratio (consistency).

What I have done in the past is take a teeny tiny bit of water and pore it under the egg to soften the "glue" then take a clean spoon and use it very carefully like a spatula going under the egg rocking gently back and forth. and usually the egg will come right up then you can incubate it normally in an incubation container.

Good Luck.

I had this happen 2 eggs were stuck together and they were stuck to the bottom of the laybox, I just placed the laybox in the incubator and it done just fine and 2 babes hatched ;)

I've had some luck spaying them with a little water ad then flexing the plastic back and forth until they loosen. My female super giant like to lay her eggs stuck together and stuck to the plastic. I think she does it to make me crazy!:rolleyes5:

I was actually going to past this exact same question here just now. I got my first ever eggs the other day and this happened.

One suggestion I got too keep it from happening again was to put damp paper towel down under the substrate. That way if they dig to the bottom they wont get stuck to the container.
