That's a big no I would go with paper towel, slate, ceramic tiles, newspaper nothing loose that can cause the leo harm.

Crushed walnut shells are WAY too sharp for a leo. Not only could it cut and poke your leo, but if ingested, it will tear their insides up like no tomorrow.

newspaper, papertowels, or repti-carpet depeding on the type.. some can have looser threading that can catch the leos nails..

Loose substrate is not good for a gecko. Walnut shell i think is one of the worst bisides calci sand.
