1 vs 2 copy is determined by the number of copies used to create it (meaning the parents genetics). This really only pertains to morph calculators and in my opinion holds no relevance to the overall appearance of the gecko. If you have 2 hypos of low quality you will have low quality babies but if u have a pair and only 1 is hypo but is of high quality then those 1c babies will look much better than the 2c. This really is a circle of complexity if you try to prove 1c or 2c because then the genetics of the breeders parents must also be confirmed and evaluated for quality and amount of hypo exhibited. I assume this is for a project of yours that you may be interested in....my suggestion is get good looking geckos from good genetics and you WILL produce good geckos. The number of copies in the pairing shouldn't be your #1 concern but rather both parent are exhibiting a feature in which you want to enhance or are striving to duplicate.

Well said. It's more of just an experiment. Nobody lists a sunglow as being two or one copy. I do agree that higher quality is the easiest way. Do you know if anyone has made Murphy patternless sunglows? I assume they wouldn't have the bands at birth and that would be the only way to identify. Correct?

I have not ever seen babies so I cant comment on how they would look but I do know people have been trying to get more color in to their patty projects for a while and the best I have seen are from Kelli. I would assume a patty sunglow would still have patterns at birth because hypo occurs over time not strait out of the egg. That as well would be a generation based project where the color of the breeders and genetics they have would increase or hamper the patties ability to display more vibrant and desired colors. You can ask Kelli or maybe someone else has worked with them and knows more. I am more of a fan for patterns on my geckos so I haven't had a patty in my collection for some time.

VMS herp believes super hypo(tangerine and hypo carrot tail) is codom and 2 copies does produce more colorful specimens. I wonder why? Ehh that's SHCT anyhow. That where sunglow gets their color I assume?

Either homozygous or heterozygous for Tangerine and Hypo Carrot-Tail, two codominant mutations. With two codominant traits involved, a total of four genotypes can be present in these - and there's enough overlap in appearances to make them difficult to sort out at a young age. Specimens homozygous for the two traits tend to have the best appearance, and many breeders will price these higher as a result - and they are worth every penny!

Their section on sunglow:
Homozygous for Tremper Albino, a recessive mutation and either homozygous or heterozygous for Tangerine and Hypo Carrot-Tail, two codominant mutations. aka Tremper Albino Super-Hypo Carrot-Tail. Combining the best Super Hypo Carrot-Tails with Tremper Albinos makes some amazing geckos. The brilliance of the colors has to be seen to be believed, we've given up trying to capture it accurately with a camera
