Superworm beetles

I finally have superworm beetles yahoo!! Out of my 26 worms so far I have only had one alien die and have 5 beetles hatch. Slow small start but got another 30 worms in containers to make more beetles. My colony was 4 month old now but yesterday I got 500 supers to feed my geckos. I am using the individual compartment fishing boxes from the dollar store and found they work awesome. I have way too many mealies now though, as only one gecko wants to eat them. Rough count on mealies was 6000 and 200 mealie beetles.

Congrats on your superworm beetles! I have a few; just enough to keep my colony going. I hate their long crawly legs!

And WOW! What a lot of mealies!

I gave 2000 mealies away without so much as a dent lol. I need to ditch like half of them yet! I am up to eight superworm beetles.

How long does it take superworm beetles to turn black?

About a 5- 10 days once their exoskeleton hardens :)

I was curious as they are 3-4 day for the oldest. I have only lost 1 alien to date and no worm loss. All others are in transition or curled up in a ball. keep them in the dark till they go alien stage then move them to a pre beetle container seems to work for me!

supers

i have no problem with meales or crickes, however, my supers keep dieing? the only thing i can think of is temp, one morphed into an alien, but thats about it. they are on oatmeal/cricket food, and carrots, change the carrots every few days. they are also in a 10 gal, and the substrate is about 2 inches thick, any suggestions, the room temp is around 75 in daytime and 70 at night

When I have an overstock of mealworms, which I breed, I sell them on craigslist for $5 for 80 grams, which is about 1000.

We've had about 30 superworm beetles in a tub now for about a month now. I just removed the beetles to a new tub, but still have not noticed any superworms squirming around. How long does it usually take for superworm eggs to hatch and how many eggs can the females lay?
