Superworms

I was unable to get mealworms tonight, apparently the shortage has reached my neck of the woods >.< So I had to get superworms instead. Is it okay to put them in the fridge or should I keep them out? I have them in about an inch of oatmeal + crushed granola in a small critter keeper.

If you put them in the frige you will kill them. They HAVE to be kept out of the cold(refridgerator cold) and they will be ok. For substatrate, I have a mixture of gutload powder and oatmeal(the kind you use for an oatmeal breakfast). It is ok if you leave the oatmeal whole.

Superworms need to be kept under regular room temperature
I think superworms are better feeder insects than mealworms, if your leo likes superworms, you can use it everyday

yes only when you seperate them in like a plano tackle box......keep them in the container and you will have no problems...superworms are a bigger meal as well...mealies stink imo

Yes superworms turn into bigger pupae and bigger beetles, and I agree, they are a great source of food for geckos. We feed mostly supers to all of our geckos (all but the picky ones that won't eat them), and they seem to be working out great. Because they're so big, the geckos eat less as well, so whatever number you would normally buy of mealworms lasts about 3 times as long when you buy that same number in super worms.
