What size should a leo be before you can start feeding superworms?

depends on the size of the supers, i know people that feed hatchlings supers, honestly i feed them mealies till about a month old then i feed supers small ones to start with but beware, when they have mealies they seem to be full more often, if you feed them 1-2 supers they're STARVED the next night LOL.

Superworms aren't automatically 2"+... you can get 1/2"-3/4" supers all the way up to 2".

Go to www.mulberryfarms.com, and look under Superworms.

Superworms are the only regular staple diet i feed all my geckos and i stand by them 100%, esp. since you can buy small size supers (1/2" - 3/4") for baby leos, and graduate them to larger and larger as they get bigger and bigger.

This is because superworms have alot thinner of an exoskeleton than mealies, thus making it alot easier to digest, which means it goes in, and then "back out" in no time flash! lol (which to me just sounds better, because you know it aint gonna become impacted from it's food, cuz it digests too quick!)

...and dunno if you are aware of this, but as a general rule, the food your gecko intakes should be no longer than the length of it's head, and no wider than 1/2 the width of it's head. Keep this rule and your gecko will never have any problems with the food it takes in... will never choke, and will not over indulge itself.

If my geckos can go for it, get it in their mouths, they can eat it with no problems.
THAT'S the rule I go by.:main_yes:

When my hatchlings were littler, I had to feed sub adult dubias. I had NO choice, I had forgotten to order feeders on time, and while waiting, sub adults were ALL I had.

Those that could eat them, ate them and had a BLAST thrashing them around.
Those that couldn't eat them, bit into them, and ate off what they could.

Do not under-estimate a leo's ability to eat the food it's given. They do not always come across size appropriate food in the wild.

I think if you are offering something too big for them that they will know and not even try to eat it. I put 4 supers and 10 mealies in all my tubs every night. This allows me to keep track of who is eating what and how much. Almost all of mine have 1 super and 2-4 mealies a night. but size should just be no wider than the gap between their eyes.
