So I have this snow female, previously mated. I had removed her male before she laid her first clutch. I recently puchased a new male, and I wanted to breed him to her. Now I know leos can store sperm and use it all season to fertilize multiple clutches, but I didn't know if they would use that first or accept a new male and use his.

After she laid her second clutch on March 8, I introduced the new guy. Didn't go well. He was willing, but she did not want him to touch her. He did make a point to scent mark all over her cage. I removed him after a short while.

I tried a couple more times this week with no results. I was hoping she'd use him to fertilize the next eggs. Then yesterday, she laid the two eggs. This is only 1 week after the last clutch. Normally its closer to three weeks between clutches. Only time will tell if they are fertile.

But now she and the new guy are going at it like pros, as I type. Interesting, huh? I will let you all know who the daddy is as her different clutches hatch.

Wow... Must be a real Mystery. What Clutch are you hoping for? From the Original Dad or the New one you Introduced.

I'm hoping the new guy, since he has more interesting genetics. The previous male was simply a het for blizzard, so I was only going to get 50% snow, with only 25% of those het for blizzard. The new guy is giant, jungle, het for raptor. First generation should produce some nice snows (50%, but maybe some jungles), and 50% will be giants, with some 25% het for raptor. These will be better for breeding into my other lines of albinos and raptors.

It may not be easy to tell which is the father, but that is part of the fun!
