I have not been doing this for a long time but with the new babies that I have been hatching this year it seems like if they eat a lot then they will not eat for a couple days.
I agree that the temps sound right my tanks are 90 at the hot side with a gradient temp of about 75. They all seem to do well at this temperature. You can also try different forms of food like meal worms.
