Hi Guys

Just want some quick advice about tail dropping.
I have an adult 5yr old female, last night I looked in on her because I heard her running around her viv and the bottom half of her tail was twitching like crazy! Something must have really spooked her. Well this morning it’s very clear that she had attempted to drop her tail. The end half that was twitching has now gone hard but it’s still attached by the skin.
It seems it disconnected inside but not outside, there’s no cuts no nothing! When you pick her up you can feel a gap between the two parts that’s all.
Iv had many geckos come to me with dropped tails but I’ve never had one drop its tail while it’s here.
I know what to do and how to care for the open end when it dose come off I just want to know if the skin around the middle will die and the end fall off its self or is this going to be a vet removal job?
:(

I think as long as her enclosure is clean, you dont need to do anything to the wound.
Just clean paper towels, maybe moisten them at first to keep them from sticking to the wound.

I would wait personally and see if it drops on its own, but if it starts looking bad ovbiously a vet visit.

thanks katie, yeah thats what i thought.
the viv has clean paper towls. there is no open wound though, not yet.
the very end of the tail has started to go crispy already and the connecting tissue around the out side is starting to puccker. so ill see how it is thursday and make a choice then.
