Unless the leo pooped on your bed, I don't think you need to clean it after they'd walked on it...

I put mine on the bed a lot.. I never had anything happen

you could get some wet paper towel and just rub where your leo was

I think leos are pretty clean. I had to say, I often kiss my leos; their little hands, their body and even their little mouth, and I'd never gotten sick from kissing my leos! (ok, I don't kiss their mouth right after they'd eaten a roach though...;))

It is easier to catch salmonella from a dog or cat, reptiles just have the bad rep, or so ive heard. I never got it, although i always wash my hands, and unlike some idiot kids i never put a tiny turtle in my mouth which is where the big salmonella baby turtle scare came from.

Well If I take out my leo and put it on my bed how would I clean it after im done =( I don't like dirty :D

You don't need to clean the gecko at all! They will usually shed their skin a few times a month and this action prevents them from having to clean themselves. If your bed is particularly dirty you can gently mist the gecko and keep him/her on clean paper towels for a few days.

Just had to be done...:main_laugh:

Lol im just scared of Salm can it spread that easily!!

You could get salmonella if you don't cook the gecko good enough before you eat it, or if you eat the stool to raw... Just let it bake until the flesh is nice and white and you'll be fine I think!

Stevie

ps. :p

OMG ,that was just too gross Stevie, LOL. I get our lizzards ( iguana, Beardie, crestie, Leos) out every night on our bed and have never had an issue. Now I do put blankets down when I have my beardie and my iguana because I have heard that different reptiles can make other reptiles sick. I don't do it because I worry about getting Salmonilla. Now if they occasionally poo, I wash our comforter in hot water.

I let mine crawl around on my bed all the time and I don't wash it after they're on it. Salmonella poisoning isn't as easy to get as some people will make it sound.

well beardies in particular have some kind of virus that actually benefits them, but is harmful to other reptiles, so you are definitely right about that!

im having a problem now. When I put my leo on my bed it runs away to like fall off. My bed is only a twin so its not that big. I got all freaked out so I put it back in the cage and it went to a corner and tried to climb it?

He must have enjoyed having a wide open space to run around in, and now he wants to get out and explore some more.

I don't put mine on my bed that much, but I let them walk all over me. One will usually just sit on my shoulder for a long time, but the other one likes to check everything out. He even tries to climb my hair, and sit on top of my head for a few seconds before finding a new place to explore.

Is it a typical American thing to let your leos walk on the bed? I have never heard anyone do that, but you make it sound like its the most normal thing in the world to do. The attention I give to my lizards is comparable of that to a fish; you won't get a fish out of the tank to cuddle would you? My animals only get out of the tank when I have to check them, show them or clean the tank.

Do you have any literature on this, because I never heard of it and I am curious... If not, how do you know this? I know that crypto is a parasite that would also fit on humans, but a virus that benefits bearded dragons..... :S
