OK for you genetic geniuses... Why are there no (for example) bright tangs that still have black spots? IS it as simple as tangs being hypo or is there more to it? Thanks! :main_thumbsup:

The original Tangerines were not "Hypo Tangs", they were just "Tangerines". Over many years of selective breeding the spotting was reduced, resulting in the Hypo or Super Hypo-ness. Now some of us are having to work backwards to try to increase the black in our Tang lines. It's ok though, I was one of the ones that wanted the black gone so badly 10 years ago!

From the answers i got on the forums here, again thanks to all who helped, apparently the leo i have will keep some of his spots fully grown. most of them will discipate, but there should still be some left after hes an adult. i have a picture of when i first got him, and the second picture of a little over a month later. Is this the kind of situation you are talking about?

He is still young, so he may be losing all his spots eventually, resulting in the concern you brought up here. lol :main_laugh:

Not exactly. Your gecko is without a doubt a "Super Hypo". That is a specific bloodline and morph that originated from the Super Hypo Carrot Tails in the early 2000's.

I am talking about the original Tangerine Leopard Geckos that looked more like this-

Yes, i would have to agree completely, those geckos are very nice! The spots add a little extra to the tang coloring

That Kelli is a FANTASTIC Tang!!! The last picture is stunning! I wish they would have left the Tangs alone! I really like the original.
