Hi all. I have a question about the tangerine leopard gecko. If you wanted to buy a tangerine female to breed, is it better to buy a visually superb gecko or a gecko that has great genetics but visually not as nice. Price is a factor here. The nicer looking gecko, obviously is more. Thanks

With tangerines a gecko with good genetics also looks better. It is not like a simple recessive were it can be het for the morph. If you want to breed tangerines, I would save up for the nicest ones you can afford.

Well, I didn't say it looked like crap. They both look great and both have good genetics. One does look nicer than the other but with an extra 100 dollar price tag. Can the offspring surpass the parent visually or do you have to get the best looking adult at that time. If they both have the same genes and I can produce better looking offspring than the parents then 100 dollars would make a big difference to me.

With polygenic traits like amounts of tangerine are hard to determine.
I would say youd be very lucky to get offspring that are nicer than their parents.
I'd save up the extra money and get the best looking gecko in your budget.
