Hey guys,

Just wanted to show off my little girl Tara. She's hypo het bell albino. We think she's blind as she doesn't seem to realise things are in front of her unless they touch her, also she has very strange shape to her eyes. Possibly a birth defect, there's no discharge and she doesn't seem like she's in any pain with it, I'm able to touch her face etc and she doesn't seem all that fussed and loves having her head stroked kinda like my little guy Xander.
She's a little on the skinny side which you can probably see, but after chatting with some people on here, I've been giving her 2 wax worms twice a week so hopefully she'll put some weight on over time.
In one the pics she's a little dark, but I think she's getting ready to shed. Have only had her and Willow since Monday so still getting used to their own traits and colours etc.
Just wondered if anyone had seen eyes shaped like this before?

She's HET albino, so that shouldn't matter.

How old is she, and how long have you had her? You didn't hear a story about her from the person you got her from, I guess? It looks like there's something weird going on towards the front of her eye socket, but who knows if it's from birth or from some bad situation in the past? Probably from birth, but unless you know her history, how can you be sure?

Maybe some folks with more experience have seen a defect like this before and can speak more confidently though.

I've had her a week today. Age we're not sure on as the girls were advertised as late 09 and yet when the previous owners brought them to me they told me they were only 3 months old.
The previous owners didn't even mention that she had problems with her eyes, it was something we discovered ourselves and shock horror the previous owners aren't responding to messages I've sent them.
She seems to be eating ok, well at least when I've given her a waxworm she is, I've yet to see her eating from the dish but that doesn't mean she's not eating when I'm not watching her. I'll be weighing her again tomorrow so maybe that'll give me an indication as to whether she'd been eating or not.
She's shedding at the moment, she seems to have a little left on her head and her little feet look as though she's wearing gloves LOL I'm keeping an eye on her, if she still has gloves on come 2/3am then I'll bathe her and help her out a little.

she is very pretty, im no expert in anyway but i can see her eyes look a little different. i know alot of people have to hand feed so i guess if she is eating and everything else seems to be ok then all she needs is a little bit of luuuurrrrviin :)

She won't be short on love in this household LOL
As for hand feeding I have tongs, so long as I put the waxworm right in front of her she seems ok, sometimes I have to touch the tip of her nose with it for her to realise it's there.
The other night I injured a mealie, she licked it a little went to bite it but missed and then lost interest but instead of throwing it away I put it back in the dish so she could sniff out where the dish was - not sure if that worked though cos as I've said, I've not seen her eat from the dish yet. To be fair I only saw Willow eat from the dish at stupid o'clock this morning so Tara may soon do the same.

it looks like she has a birth defect you can bring it to the vet all thought it is not gonna be treatable and you would pay around 60 bucks or you can be safe and free by talking to a online reptile vetranaren there is some on the forums

I may see if I can speak to an online vet. With the exception of her eyes, she seems fine. I think it'd be too stressful for her to take her to the vets, especially when they wouldn't really be able to do anything for her.
Cheers for the advice, I'll look through the forums for a vet.
