I just hate taxes!! And I work at a CPA firm...go figure! I had my boss do my taxes today and every year in the past I've gotten money back, well apparently I didn't do something right on my W-4 at my last job and now I owe $500 at least! I only make $12,000 a year! Why must I owe so much!!!! I'll owe more than that though if my mother decides to claim me, as I'm still in college, so we'll see if I owe more like $800!!!!!!!!! Makes me so frustrated! And that rebate we'll all be getting will help me pay for the taxes, so what good does that do me, make me pay and then give me a check in return pretty much!

Anyway, just had to vent...I just found out about this about an hour ago when I was leaving work. Good thing I bought my 3 geckos early enough...though it makes me kind of wish I hadn't, because I'd have that money to pay off the taxes. Oh well, I'll always love my geckos, so I can't really regret having bought them. And hopefully next year they will pay off for me too!

That sucks! I'm an independent contractor so I get to pay every year rather than getting a return. One year I think I had to pay almost $2000 on the $9,000 I had made that year. I've learned a few things since then though; saving receipts, being married, and owning a house really help lower taxes!!

Ugh! That hurts. I know he's a CPA but you made $12K, c'mon?! Did someone in payroll let you claim exempt? Shame on them, legally not their fault, but shame.

Yeah, I always end up paying like $400 in state taxes. That's the main reason why I wait till late March to do my taxes.

Dude, That's below the poverty line of 18,000 you should be getting everything back. Something is wrong.

I suppose that unfortunately anything is possible in this "wonderful economy" but it just doesn't sound right to me either

Well maybe it's different in different states, but I have never heard of getting back even if you didn't pay enough during the year. I just know that I didn't have enough taken out the whole year of 2007...I had maybe a total of I think it was $500 taken out for both federal and state....and that is no where near enough! I wish I had noticed it, but it didn't look odd to me on my check stubs...oh well...I have gotten over it and am already making plans for that rebate check :D!
