Temperature fluctuation while Incubating

Hello, I`m Fabián from Mexico.

A couple of days ago my leopard gecko layed a pair of eggs, and then i put them in a home-made incubator.

My question is: ¿how much temperature fluctuation is allowed to happen without putting in danger the hatchlings?

Thanks a lot

*And sorry if my english is not good enough

I would guess that about 2 degrees fluctuation would probably be OK. Sometimes the temperature may briefly change by more than 2 degrees and I think if it happens only once or so it's probably OK (my incubator went from 82 to 86 during a heat wave last month but eggs continue to hatch fine), but if it's constantly going up and down more than 2 degrees there could be problems with the hatchlings.

It also depends on WHEN the fluctuation is occuring in reference to the development of the egg. I have experienced that eggs in their 3rd or 4th week + are not as affected by a more severe fluctuation as eggs in their 1st through 3rd week. I had two different clutches in my incubator when I had to move it, and it dropped to 75 I believe. The first clutch that had been in there for 4 weeks did absolutely fine, but the eggs that were only 2 weeks old came out with tail kinks.
