Okay I just watched “the butterfly effect 1&2”. (up all night, been wanting to watch them since they came out, and just now got the chance) This is the first time I have seen either of them, and I cannot figure out what the movie is actually about. Is the name a metaphor, for something? It actually sort of makes me mad, that the movie has nothing to do with a butterfly. Are they schizophrenic? Can somebody explain this movie to me?

I'm pretty sure they're scitzos. I agree, that movie has nothing to do with it's title.

I haven't seen the second one.

But first you have to know what the butterfly effect is...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect

One small change can cause major change in the future.

"Something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world..."

Make more sense?

This is leopard gecko related?

*Haha, you beat me to it Ryan :p

Oh wow, it's been quite some time since I last saw these movies.
The movie got the title 'The Butterfly Effect' because of the theory with the same name.

The theory is based all on chaos and stemmed from the thought that if a butterfly flaps its wings in one location, that slight change in the atmosphere and wind could ultimately alter the path of a tornado or delay, accelerate or even prevent the occurrence of a tornado in a certain location.

Basically, it means that all acts, no matter how small, can have drastic effects on the world. It's an old theory from the late 1800's and I don't claim to understand it at all :main_laugh:

Yeah, I think it's just a bunch of writers with WAY too much time on their hands. And the people who originally thought up with this crap are very, very crazy. Just my opinion though. :)

Nope, I just slapped it down in the general discussion area.

And I knew what the butterfly effect was, but is the butterfly flapping its wings, him remembering the memories? And because he remembers what happens everything changes? I didn’t actually make the connection until now though.

He's not remembering what happened.

The blank spots in his memory are where he goes back and changed something. Kind of like time traveling. But every change he makes, has unseen consequences in the future (or present) he returns to.

Most movies are by writers/producers that have a passion for film or a spark of "inspiration" (or insanity, call it what you want) and then they get to work on their idea.
Or like the movies now that are coming out and making way too much money like Super Hero Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc are by people who have way too much time on their hands or absolutely no original creativeness in them (which is my opinion.)

The Butterfly Effect was quite a brilliant movie actually. It took a concept and showed exactly how the smallest choices can greatly impact your future. (I think that was the main idea of the movie...its been so long since I've seen it.)
